Our Aim

The aim of the Strategic Independent Advisory Group (SIAG) is to work as partners with both the Kent Police Authority and Kent Police to:

• Increase trust and confidence in policing amongst all communities; 
• Provide constructive advice to the organisation on ways to improve the quality of service delivery to all communities

How we work

The SIAG meets at least four times a year, in the evenings. Members of the Executive Committee are required to attend additional meetings, which are normally held a month ahead of the full meetings. 

There may be occasions when the SIAG, or individual members, will be asked for advice on specific issues, such as the impact that a serious crime investigation could have on a particular community. 

Our Structure

The SIAG is lead by an Executive, which is made up of:

• Chair
• Vice chair 
• Secretary
• Treasurer

There are specific SIAG leads who meet with Kent Police representatives on the following subjects:

• Anti Social Behaviour
• Disability
• Elderly
• Hate Crime
• Prevent Strategy
• Public Protection
• Recruitment, Retention & Progression 
• Stop and Search

Local IAGs

Local IAGs meet with those senior officers who deliver police services at a local level.  Membership is based on the same principles as for the Strategic IAG.  Contact details for each of the 6 policing areas can be found here.
